artist | cabinet specialist
My work stems from experiences as a child on remote African farms and more recently time spent in South Africa. The ancient and universal mind of homo sapiens distils experience, observations and emotions into art and cultures. I conjecture at the pre-scientific mind in its attempt to make sense of the world. It is the language of magic, superstition, belief and ceremony that influences my choice of materials. Often there are contemporary reverberations echoing from political and social concerns. I set my work in series, taxonomies and collections, often resembling the anthropologist's concerns.
